Evening School

The purpose of the The Stephen Olford Center Evening School is to equip God's servants to live as more than conquerors in Christ! Our concern is to encourage the minister to be faithful to the Word of God and to be empowered by the Spirit of God. Our specific focus is the preaching and teaching of the Word of God. We design our training events to encouarge and equip God's servants to be able to "rightly divide the Word of truth" in the power of the Holy Spirit. Because of the demands of ministry and the consequent shortage of time, many leaders are taking advantage of non-traditional ways to prepare for ministry or to sharpen their ministry skills. This Evening School program seeks to meet the needs of church leaders who desire practical training within a realistic time frame.

Course lecturers include the following:

DR. DAVID L. OLFORD is the professor of the Stephen of Olford Chair of Expository Preaching for Union University as well as the special assistant to the President of the University, Dr. David Dockery. Dr. Olford has developed the course materials used in the seminars taught at the Olford Center. He and his father, the late Dr. Stephen F. Olford, co-authored the widely acclaimed book, Anointed Expository Preaching. Dr. Olford has also compiled a series of powerful essays by renowned Christian leaders in a work entitled A Passion for Preaching.
Dr. Olford holds a B.A. and M.A. from Wheaton College and a PhD from Sheffield University. After doctoral studies in England, he joined the ministry in 1985 and ministered with his father for over 19 years. Both gifted teacher and preacher, Dr. Olford has shared his passion for God’s inerrant Word across the United States and in numerous countries worldwide. He resides in Memphis, TN with his wife, Ellen, and their two daughters, Lindsay and Stephanie.

DR. TED RENDALL is Minister and Professor in Residence at Olford Ministries International. Dr. Rendall is a prolific author and served as editor of The Prairie Overcomer for 31 years. He is Chancellor Emeritus of the Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada and Pastor Emeritus of the Prairie Tabernacle Church also in Alberta. Dr. Rendall is a gifted teacher and preacher of the Word. He speaks regularly at conferences and seminars in the States and worldwide. Dr. Rendall and his wife Hester, frequently minister at conferences often addressing the subject of revival.

Dr. Roger Pascoe is President of The Institute for Biblical Preaching (IBP), whose mission is to “strengthen the church in biblical preaching and leadership.” In Canada, Roger serves as director of “The Stephen Olford Institute for Preaching and Leadership,” a ministry of IBP focused on encouraging, equipping, and mentoring pastors and lay leaders in expository preaching, biblical leadership, and their own spiritual development. The venue for this ministry is primarily churches, seminaries, conferences, and retreats.

Roger has ministered extensively to pastors in eastern Europe who have no formal theological training, providing these pastors with the tools, training, and encouragement that they need to faithfully shepherd God's people.

Following almost twenty years of bi-vocational pastoral ministry in a Brethren Assembly, Roger served as Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Ontario, before taking up his current ministry. Roger has a Doctor of Ministry degree in Expository Preaching. He has been married for 35 years and has two married children and 3 grandchildren.

DR. STEPHEN F. OLFORD(1918-2004) founded Olford Ministries International in 1980 in order to promote biblical preaching and provide practical training for those in Christian ministry. His goal was to restore sound, biblical preaching to the pulpit and spiritual revival in the church, as well as a mobilized effort for evangelism in the world and righteous and social justice in our nation. He was a prolific author, writing on the subject of preaching as well as numerous other theological and practical subjects pertaining to the Christian life. Dr. Olford served as pastor, evangelist, statesman, teacher and preacher. His "Encounter" radio programs were heard across the country and around the world. He and his wife, Heather, were married for 56 years. Dr. Olford went to Glory on August 29, 2004.
